  • Briand Named Anna Maria Head Baseball Coach

    PAXTON, Mass.—The Anna Maria College Athletic Department has named Dan Briand the Head Baseball Coach as announced by Athletic Director, Serge DeBari on Monday morning. Briand joins the Anna Maria community with over 10 years of baseball coaching experience. He currently serves as the assistant coach for the American Legion Baseball, Northbridge Post 343 team. He has been with Post 343 since 2006.

In addition, five major award winners were also named for their respective contributions to the success of their baseball programs.

Sophomore Callan Finn-McMahon (West Hartford, Conn.) was named to the GNAC all-sportsmanship team.

The win boosts the Monks to 30-6 on the season and 13-1 in the GNAC while the AMCATS cap their season at 7-31 overall and 0-14 in the conference.

    NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University baseball team hosted Anna Maria College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Garrity Field. The Cadets swept the AMCATS with an 8-0 win in game one and a come-from-behind 2-1 victory in game two. Norwich improves to 12-17 overall and 6-4 in GNAC play with the sweep while Anna Maria falls to 7-29 overall and 0-12 in conference.

Anna Maria dropped 10-6 in game one before falling a close 8-7 battle in game two. The AMCATS fall to 7-27 overall and 0-10 in the conference while the Raiders improve to 3-23 and 2-8 in GNAC play.

    BOSTON, Mass. – The Suffolk baseball team had an offensive showing with 66 runs scored in two victories over the Anna Maria College on Saturday afternoong. The Rams took a 30-8 victory in Game 1 and a 36-2 victory in game two at East Boston Memorial Park. The AMCATS fall to 7-25 on the season and 0-8 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play while Suffolk improves to 15-7 overall and 8-0 in conference action.

In game one the AMCATS downed the Bearcats, 4-3 and then went on to pick up a 2-1 victory in game two of the day. The two wins were the first wins of the season for Anna Maria as they impove to 2-7 overall this season. The losses drop the Bearcats to 1-5 overall.
