  • Rapoza Named GNAC Rookie of the Year

    WINTHROP, Mass.— Freshman Mike Rapoza (Charlton, Mass.) of the Anna Maria College men's basketball team has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Year and to the GNAC All-Conference Second Team. Also earning recognition this season is senior David Jean-Louis (Miramar Fla.) who was named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team. The announcement was released by the league office on Monday afternoon.

    PAXTON, Mass. – The Anna Maria College men’s basketball team fell to the Falcons of Albertus Magnus College in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) quarterfinal game on Tuesday evening at "The Nest" inside the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center (92-67). The AMCATS finish out their season with a 5-21 overall record and 5-13 record in the GNAC. The Falcons advance to the GNAC semifinal game on Thursday, Feb. 23 against No. 4 Mount Ida College.

The AMCATS took the momentum in the opening half before the Wildcats got the defense rolling in the second half and pulled away for a 74-55 victory over Anna Maria. The loss drops the AMCATS to 4-18 overall and 4-11 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. Johnson & Wales improves to 11-9 overall and 11-3 in the conference.
