PAXTON, Mass.-- Freshman Mike Rapoza (Charlton, Mass.) of the Anna Maria College men's basketball team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Corvias Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is Rapoza's second time receiving Rookie of the Week honors.
Rapoza averaged 18.0 points and 15.7 rebounds while shooting an impressive 67.7% (21-31 FG) from the field in a 1-2 week. After going for 23 points and 16 rebounds in a victory at Emmanuel, he had 23 points and 13 boards at Norwich before registering eight points and 18 rebounds at Mount Ida.
The rookie leads the AMCATS this season averaging 16.9 points per game and 13 rebounds per game. He notched a career high 24 points in the AMCATS first win of the season over Mount Ida on Dec. 1st. Rapoza has recorded a total of 11 double-doubles this season.
The AMCATS host the Falcons of Albertus Magnus College on Saturday, January 21 for a 1:00 p.m. GNAC contest.
