Women's basketball – AMCATS Topped By Bantams
Paxton, Mass. - Anna Maria College was led by junior Alison McCarthy (Lynn, Mass.) and Mary Moroski (Worcester, Mass.) in an 80-35 loss to Trinity College tonight in women's basketball action at The Fuller Activities Center. With the loss the AMCATS drop to 5-15 on the season, Trinity improves to 7-10 on the year.
McCarthy had a team high 11 points, 4 rebounds and a steal while Moroski grabbed 8 rebounds. Kayla Cummings (Auburn, Maine) scored 6 points off the bench.
The Bantams were led by senior Michelle Royals (Torrington, Conn.) eighteen points, 6 rebounds, 6 steals and 6 assists. Also joining Royals in double-digits was Moriah Sweeney (Ramsey, NJ) with 11 points, Carly Napier (Pittsford, NY) with 15 points and Taylor Murtaugh (New York, NY).
Trinity opened the game on 16-1 run and never looked back cruising to the win. Royals scored her 1,000 point for the Bantams in the second half on a three-pointer from the left wing.
Trinity held a 52% to 21% shooting percentage over the AMCATS. They also held the advantage in rebounds 45-30 and steals 20-7.
The AMCATS return to action on Saturday when they host Saint Joseph's College (ME) for a GNAC match-up at 1:00 pm.
