Women's Soccer Downed by Gators

PAXTON Mass:  Anna Maria College Women's Soccer lost to Pine Manor College on Sunday Evening in a 6-3 game at AMCAT Field despite a hat trick from Junior Shannon Leblanc.    

 

Pine Manor College (1-3), Anna Maria College (0-9,0-5 GNAC)

 

First Half

 

The second goal of the year for the AMCATS was scored by Shannon Leblanc (Leominster, Mass) on a 28 yard free kick in the 4th minute of the game to the top left corner of the net.

 

After starting down 1-0 the Gators would go on a 6-0 run to finish off the first half.  Haleigh Hauck would lead Pine Manor, scoring 2 out of the 6 goals. The fifth goal would come on a penalty kick from Jacqueline Rodriguez, who also contributed with an assist in the half.  To end the half the Gators would get a buzzer beating kick off thanks to Chiara Celis.   

 

Anna Maria would have a chance to respond in 43rd minute of the game when Shannon Leblanc had a chance at a free kick.  The kick would be saved by Kristina Guinta who made six saves in the first half.

 

Second Half

 

Shannon Leblanc would lead the AMCATS in the second half with two goals all coming from Keannah Dunsmore (Georgia, Vermont)Rachel Matloff would go onto have 6 saves in this half to keep hope alive for Anna Maria, but missed shots would prove pivotal in the loss.

Next Up

 

The AMCATS will be on the road to Simmons College for a conference matchup on September 26th at 7:00 PM. 

 

The Gators will stay on the road as their next game will be September 27th against Dean College at 4:00 PM.
