Men’s Basketball Beats Out Mitchell
NEW LONDON, CT - Anna Maria College defeated Mitchell College 91-86 in a non-conference collegiate men's basketball game on Saturday afternoon at the Yarnall Athletic Center.
With the win, the AMCATS improve their overall record to 2-6 on the season.
The AMCATS closed out the first half trailing 46-43, but fought back in the second half, tying the score at 82-82 with just over three minutes remaining in the contest. Logan Talbot put his team in front with a layup at the 3:20 mark, giving the AMCATS a lead they would hold onto until the end of regulation.
Lucas Miglionico led the scoring effort with 20 points on 6-of-15 shooting, including four made threes, while adding six rebounds. Talbot posted 14 points and a team-high five assists, and Joe Ingegneri added 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting with five boards. Ryan Outlow recorded seven points and five rebounds, and Tyson Wheeler finished with nine points and seven assists.
Anna Maria shot 47.1% from the field and 33.3% from three for the game. They also finished 20-for-30 at the line and received 36 points from their bench, matching Mitchell with 46 points in the paint, and held a slight advantage in both points off turnovers (18-16) and second-chance points (13-12).
Today's game concludes play in 2025, with Anna Maria jumping back into action for a home game against Norwich on New Year's Day. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
