Men’s Ice Hockey Skates Past Hiram, 7–1

Auburn, Mass. – The Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team earned a 7–1 non-conference victory over Hiram College on Saturday evening at Horgan Arena.

With the win, the AMCATS improve to 10–5–2 overall.

Anna Maria opened the scoring midway through the first period, as Tobias Omholt found the back of the net at 8:24, with the help of Dylan McElhinny and Brandon Della Paolera. The AMCATS added a second goal late in the period when Owen Barrow scored on the power play to give Anna Maria a 2–0 lead after one.

Hiram got on the board early in the second period, but Anna Maria responded with three goals in the frame. Lucas De La Salle scored at 12:36 before Braeden McKinnon added another just under two minutes later. Brandon Della Paolera capped the period with a goal to send the AMCATS into the third with a 5–1 advantage.

Anna Maria continued to build on the lead in the third period, as De La Salle buried his second goal of the night before Brady Harroun added a power-play goal at 12:20 to seal the 7–1 win.

De La Salle finished with two goals, while Omholt, Barrow, McKinnon, Della Paolera, and Harroun also scored for the AMCATS. McKinnon and Barrow each recorded multiple points in the contest.

Anna Maria outshot Hiram, 64–20. In goal, Cole Johnston made 19 saves to earn the victory.

Anna Maria returns to action on Thursday, January 29, traveling to Framingham, Mass. to take on Framingham State University in a MASCAC matchup. Opening puck drop is scheduled for 5:40 p.m.
