Baseball Outlasted by Lesley

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - The Anna Maria College baseball team dropped a non-conference contest to Lesley University, 6-2, on Wednesday afternoon at the New England Baseball Complex. With the loss, the AMCATS move to 6-4 overall.

Lesley struck first in the top of the opening inning with an RBI double to right center to take a 1-0 lead. Anna Maria answered in the bottom of the second inning when Mason Kolczewski singled to right field to score Josh Batchelder, tying the game at 1-1.

The Lynx regained the advantage in the fifth inning with another RBI double, but the AMCATS responded in the bottom of the inning when Batchelder delivered an RBI single to center field to plate Justin Chiulli and even the score at 2-2.

The game remained tied until the ninth inning when Lesley capitalized on several opportunities, scoring four runs to pull away and secure the 6-2 final.

Jesse Buonocore turned in a strong outing as the starter for the AMCATS, striking out nine batters across five innings while allowing just four hits and two earned runs.

Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday, March 14, at 12:00 p.m. when it hosts Vermont State Lyndon.
