Baseball Bested by Bridgewater on Senior Day
MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - Anna Maria College was defeated 6-0 by Bridgewater State University in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball game on Friday afternoon at Marlborough High School.
With the result, the AMCATS fall to 25-13 overall and 15-7 in MASCAC play.
Before the start of the contest, seven AMCAT seniors were honored for their commitment to the team during a Senior Day ceremony.
Bridgewater State scored two runs early and added to its lead with three in the fifth and one in the eighth to account for the final margin.
The AMCATS recorded five hits in the contest, with Andrew Denison, Brady Aylward, Josh Batchelder, Brayden Wright, and Avery Acuna each tallying one.
Owen Sullivan got the start, striking out eight batters over 5.0 innings. Seniors Carlos Santos and Sean Christiansen combined for scoreless relief.
Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday, May 2, traveling to face Bridgewater State in a conference doubleheader beginning at 12:00 PM.
