RAIDERS TOO MUCH FOR WOMEN'S LACROSSE

PAXTON, MA - On Saturday March 8th, 2025 the Anna Maria College women's lacrosse team hosted the Raiders of Rivier University for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 16 to 6. 

The Saints started the game off with three unanswered goals andwould keep the AMCATS off the board in the first quarter. It would be the AMCATS to come out quick in the second quarter scoring the first AMCATS goal of the game off a free position shot from Christine Ijawet. The AMCATS were not giving up, and would continue to pressure the Raiders, when less than a minute later the AMCATS would get their second goal of the game off of Riley Michaund, to make it a 3 to 2 game against the Raiders. The AMCATS would refuse to give up, but it would be the Raiders to step on the gas after the second AMCAT goal, as the Raiders would go on to get 4 unanswered goals to make it a 7 to 2 game with about 8 minutes left in the second quarter pulling away from the AMCATS. The AMCATS refusing to give up would continue to pressure and create opportunities against the Raiders. It would be Christine Ijawet who would get her second goal of the game for the AMCATS, pulling the AMCATS within 4 against the Raiders. The Raiders would respond to the AMCATS with two more goals, in the second quarter and would keep the AMCATS off the board for the rest of the second quarter. The AMCATS would head to halftime down to the Raiders 9 to 3.  

The Raiders would come out strong in the third quarter scoring the first three goals, adding to their lead over the AMCATS 12 to 3. The AMCATS still would refuse to give up and pressure the Raiders and capitalize on their opportunities scoring their 4th goal of the game off a free position shot from Riley Michaud for her second goal of the game. The Raiders would respond before the end of the third quarter scoring two more goals and keeping the AMCATS off the board for the remainder of the third. The third quarter would end with the AMCATS down to the Raiders 14 to 4. 

The fourth quarter would start with the Raiders who would come out strong scoring two more goals on the AMCATS. It would be the AMCATS to respond to the Raiders with a goal from Riley Michaud for her third goal of the game. The AMCATS would continue to fight against the Raiders and would refuse to give up It would be with less than three minutes left that the AMCATS would get their 6th goal of the game off a free position shot from Raegan Hachey. Despite the AMCATS late push in the fourth quarter and continued fight against the Raiders they would fall to the Raiders 16 to 6. 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • Riley Michaud currently leads the AMCATS with 11 goals and 4 assists so far this season in just three games played.
  • Michaund would get her 100th career draw control against the Raiders.
  • Riley Michaund has scored more than one goal in every game played so far this season for the AMCATS. 
  • Christine Ijawet would have her second two goal game this season in only three games played. 

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Thursday March 13th, 2025, where they will host the Beavers of the University of Maine Farmington. Opening draw is set for 5:00pm.
