FOOTBALL FACES HEARTBREAKING OT LOSS TO BEARS

BRIDGEWATER, MA- On Saturday, November 8^th, 2025 the Anna Maria College football team traveled to Bridgewater, MA to take on the Bears of Bridgewater State. The AMCATS lost the game 41-35 in overtime.

The AMCATS struck first in the opening quarter, scoring on their initial drive to take a 7–0 lead over the Bears. However, the Bears quickly answered with a touchdown on their first possession to tie the game 7–7. The AMCATS responded right back, marching down the field to regain the lead at 14–7. Their defense held firm for the remainder of the first quarter, keeping the Bears off the board and taking a 14–7 advantage into the second.

The second quarter featured back-and-forth action as both teams exchanged scoring opportunities. The Bears would come out strong applying offensive pressure and found the end zone again to even the score at 14–14. The AMCATS wasted no time responding, reclaiming the lead at 21–14 with another touchdown. As the half progressed, the Bears managed to tie the game again sending both teams into halftime tied at 21–21.

The the Bears would come out strong and took control in the third quarter, scoring two straight touchdowns to go up 35–21. The AMCATS fought back late in the third quarter scoring a touchdown to cut the deficit to 35–28 heading into the final quarter of the game.

In the fourth quarter, the AMCATS defense tightened up, shutting down the Bears' offense and keeping them scoreless. The AMCATS capitalized on their momentum, scoring a late touchdown to tie the game 35–35 and force overtime.

The AMCATS came out determined in overtime, battling hard to keep their momentum going. Despite their strong effort, the Bears' defense managed to stop the offensive pressure from the AMCATS and not allow them to score in overtime. It would then be the Bears to take that momentum from the defensive stop and score a touchdown in overtime, with that result the AMCATS would fall to the Bears in overtime 41-35.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

• Nikolay Boyce threw for 279 yards with two touchdowns on the day.
• Jeremiah Cadet led the AMCATS rushing with 50 yards and 1 touchdown.
• Rhanyam Kernizan and Anthony DaSilva would both add touchdowns on the day against the Bears for the AMCATS. 
• Marino Vedova would go 5/5 on extra points in the game against the Bears of Bridgewater State. 
• Marino Vedova and Tyler Thibodeau would both have interceptions on the day against the Bears. 

COMING UP:

The AMCATS will be back in action on Saturday November 15, 2025, where they will host the Bulldogs of Dean College for a conference matchup and senior day. Opening kickoff is set for 12:00pm.
