Football’s Boyce Earns MASCAC Weekly Honors for Fourth Time

PAXTON, MA - For the fourth time this season, freshman quarterback Nikolay Boyce earned accolades from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference. The league office announced on Monday afternoon that Boyce had earned both Rookie and Player of the Week for his game-winning performance in Saturday's 35-28 win over the previously undefeated Plymouth State Panthers.

Boyce once again came up big for the AMCATS, completing 28 passes for 382 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 10.1 yards per attempt with a long of 37 yards. With the game on the line, he delivered a clutch 22-yard touchdown pass with 32 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to secure the win, Anna Maria's fourth straight.

The freshman has had an outstanding season, leading Anna Maria to a 4-1 record in MASCAC play while topping the conference in multiple categories. Boyce leads the league with 1,650 passing yards, 779 more than the next closest quarterback, and averages 275.0 yards per game, over 100 more than any other player. He has completed nearly 60 percent of his 212 pass attempts, averaging 7.8 yards per throw, and owns a conference-high 19 passing touchdowns, nearly doubling the next closest player, who has 10.

After knocking Plymouth State out of the top spot in the conference, leaving Framingham State alone at 5-0 in MASCAC play, the AMCATS will now host Fitchburg State, who sit at 2-3 in conference play, this Saturday, October 25th. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
