Field Hockey Loses to Westfield

PAXTON, MA - Anna Maria was defeated 5-1 by Westfield State University in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference field hockey game on Tuesday afternoon at Caparso Field.

With the loss, the AMCATS' overall record drops to 1-13 and 0-9 in conference play.

After conceding an early goal, Anna Maria responded when Kennedy Etheridge connected with Lily Celata, who netted her eighth goal of the season to even the score at 1-1 after the first quarter. From there, both defenses held strong, with the game remaining tied heading into the halftime break.

The Owls took control in the second half, testing the AMCAT goalie Julianna Stanger, who finished the game with 11 saves.

Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday, October 25th, for a road game against Fitchburg State. Start time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
