Field Hockey Falls Short at Framingham State

FRAMINGHAM, MA - Anna Maria College came up just short in a competitive Massachusetts Collegiate Athletic Conference field hockey game against Framingham State, falling 2-1 Tuesday afternoon at Maple Street Field.

With the loss, the AMCATS move to 1-10 overall and 0-6 in MASCAC play.

Framingham State capitalized early, scoring twice in the opening nine minutes to take a 2-0 lead. Anna Maria answered midway through the second quarter when Alyse Mutti found the back of the net unassisted at the 25:41 mark to cut the deficit in half. Despite generating several scoring chances the rest of the way, finishing with 11 shots on goal, the AMCATS were unable to find the equalizer.

Goalkeeper Julianna Stanger anchored the defense with an outstanding performance, recording 15 saves to keep her team within striking distance. On the offensive side, Madison Marie Romano and Mutti led the attack, combining for eight shots on goal while Lily Celata finished with five shots, two of which were on target.

Anna Maria looks to return to the win column with a MASCAC matchup against Salem State on Saturday, October 11th, beginning at 3 p.m. at Caparso Field.
