HENNIKER, NH - Anna Maria College was defeated 6-0 by New England College in a non-conference collegiate field hockey game Saturday afternoon at Don Melander Field.
With the loss, the AMCATS open the season with an overall record of 0-1.
Sophomore goalkeeper Julianna Stanger did her best to keep the AMCATS competitive, making a career-high 14 saves throughout the game while never allowing more than two goals to be scored in a single quarter.
Unfortunately for Anna Maria, the NEC offense was relentless, outshooting the AMCATS by a margin of 35 shots, 20 of which were on target.
Anna Maria hosts Maine Farmington at Caparso Field on Saturday, September 6th, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
