Field Hockey Falls in Overtime on Senior Day

PAXTON, MA - Anna Maria College was defeated 5-4 in a competitive Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference field hockey matchup at Caparso Field. Before the game, the AMCATS honored senior midfielder Madison Marie Romano during a Senior Day celebration.

With the result, the AMCATS close out the season with an overall record of 1-16 and a conference record of 0-12.

After falling behind 2-0, Anna Maria cut the deficit in half when Romano found the back of the net off a pass from Emma Blake, marking her second goal of the season. The Rams answered with another goal to extend their lead, but Romano struck again, netting her second of the game on a setup from Alyse Mutti. Mutti then connected once more late in the second quarter, finding Morgan Beane, who buried the equalizer to send both teams into halftime tied at 3-3.

Romano completed her hat trick midway through the third quarter, scoring off a pass from Lily Celata to put the AMCATS on top 4-3. The lead was short-lived, as the Rams scored three minutes later to even the game at 4-4, a score that held through regulation to send the contest to overtime. The Rams found the winner three minutes into the extra period to conclude the AMCATS' season.

Julianna Stanger played the full game in net for the AMCATS, making 17 saves to keep the game within reach.
