Volleyball Struggles With Buccaneers On The Road
BUZZARDS BAY, MA - On Saturday, October 11th the Anna Maria College women's volleyball team traveled to Buzzards Bay, MA to take on the Mass. Maritime Buccaneers for a MASCAC matchup. The AMCATS lost the match 3 sets to 0.
With the result, the AMCATS fall to an overall record of 3-12 and 0-4 in MASCAC play.
The Buccaneers set the tone early, with an 11 point gap at the end of the first set as the AMCATS fell 25-14. Despite the early deficit, the AMCATS pushed on as they battled back and forth with the Buccaneers in set two before falling 25-17. Trailing 2-0 the AMCATS fought hard to stay alive in the third set as they held off the Buccaneers who needed just one more point to close out the day. The AMCATS put up four straight points to reach a score of 19-24 before Mass. Maritime finished things off.
The AMCATS finished the day with 18 total kills, with Lauren Decoteau and Rillie Mendoza each contributing 5 kills on the day. Gia Hall led the AMCATS with 12 digs against the Buccaneers while Ella Moon followed closely behind with 11.
Anna Maria returns to action on Tuesday, October 14th where they will host Hartford College for a non-conference matchup at the Fuller Center in Paxton, MA.
