Women’s Volleyball Battles With Vikings

PAXTON, MA - Anna Maria College was defeated 3-1 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's volleyball match on Wednesday evening at the Fuller Center.

With the result, the AMCATS' overall record drops to 3-15 and 0-6 in conference play.

After a competitive opening set that saw the Vikings narrowly edge out the home team, Anna Maria responded with one of their strongest sets of the season. The AMCATS surged ahead to a commanding 15-5 lead, forcing Salem State to use both of its timeouts quickly. Ella Moon led the charge with four kills, including the set-winner, while Lauren Decoteau and Vanessa Guimaraes contributed two kills apiece. From there, the Vikings reestablished control, finishing out the match in the final two sets.

The AMCATS totaled 29 kills as a team, led by Vanessa Guimaraes, who recorded 11 kills, 11 digs, and a service ace. Lauren Decoteau and Ella Moon each added six kills, with Decoteau collecting 10 digs and Moon adding five. Emily Colp anchored the defense with a team-high 15 digs, while Gia Hall and Makenna Lovelette chipped in three kills apiece, with Hall also contributing a pair of service aces.

Anna Maria continues MASCAC play on Friday, October 24th, with a home matchup against Fitchburg State beginning at 6 p.m.
