PAXTON, MA - Anna Maria College earned its first win of the season, defeating Lesley College in a three-set sweep in a non-conference collegiate women's volleyball match on Wednesday evening at the Fuller Center. Set scores were 25-16, 25-15, and 25-12.

With the win, the AMCATS improve to an overall record of 1-1 on the young season.

After falling into an early 8-5 hole, Gia Hall jumpstarted the Anna Maria offense with a 10-point scoring run that featured four service aces from the sophomore. The home team never let up, closing the set on a six-point run sparked by Makenna Lovelette, who delivered two service aces of her own.

The AMCATS' dominance continued in the second set, with an early nine-point run featuring two service aces by Rilie Mendoza and kills from four different Anna Maria players, amounting to an 11-5 advantage. The AMCATS extended their lead over the course of the set, winning 24-15 off a kill by Lauren Decoteau.

The third set followed the same script, as the home team quickly jumped out to a 4-1 lead and never looked back, cruising to a 25-12 win, their largest margin of victory in a set since last year's 25-12 match opener against Lesley.

Hall led the way for the AMCATS, posting a game-high 18 assists and 11 digs while adding four service aces. Vanessa Guimaraes delivered seven aces, outpacing Lesley's team total of six, while Mendoza topped all players with nine kills.

Anna Maria closes out a three-game home stretch on Thursday, September 11th, with a 6:00 p.m. matchup against Bay Path at the Fuller Center.
