PAXTON, MA - Anna Maria was swept by Worcester State University in a Massachusetts State Athletic Conference women's volleyball showdown Friday evening at the Fuller Activities Center. Set scores were 25-8, 25-11, 25-16.
With the result, the AMCATS' overall record falls to 3-6, and their MASCAC record slides to 0-2.
After dropping the first two sets, Anna Maria played their best volleyball in the third, keeping pace with Worcester State early on before the Lancers pulled ahead to finish the set and take the match.
The AMCATS finished with 15 kills as a team, led by Vanessa Guimaraes and Rilie Mendoza with four kills apiece. Guimares added eight digs while Gia Hall led the squad with nine digs and nine assists, while contributing a pair of kills.
Anna Maria returns to action on Tuesday, September 30th, in a road non-conference matchup against Colby-Sawyer beginning at 7 p.m.
