Volleyball Sweeps The Day With Two Wins Up In Vermont

LYNDON, VT - On Saturday, September 13th the Anna Maria College women's volleyball team traveled to Lyndon, VT for a non-conference ti-match with the Hornets of Vermont State Lyndon and Paul Smith's College. The AMCATS won game one against the Hornets 3-0 followed by a 3-1 win over Paul Smith's.

Game One:

The AMCATS kicked things off strong with a sweeping performance over the Vermont State Hornets. Vanessa Guimaraes put up a career high of 13 digs in the win over the Hornets while Gia Hall led the AMCATS offense with an impressive 22 assists, helping secure a clean 3-0 victory. Additionally Rilie Mendoza posted a pair of sevens with 7 kills and a career high of 7 aces.

Game Two: 

Things did not look good for the AMCATS at the start of match two as Paul Smith's took an early lead with a swift 25-14 win in set one. The AMCATS remained undeterred however pushing the Bobcats on their heels with a 25-16 set win tying the game up at one a piece. Battling it out over the next two sets, the AMCATS came out on top after beating the Bobcats 25-23 and 25-21 for a final score of 3-1 securing their second victory of the day. Gia Hall played a major role in game two with 25 assists, 10 kills, 14 digs and 5 aces to help propel the AMCATS offense. 

COMING UP:

The AMCATS will be back in action on Tuesday, September 16th where they will host the Fisher College Falcons for a non-conference matchup. Opening set starts at 6:00pm at the Fuller Center in Paxton, MA.
