Anna Maria College Names Bridget D’Amelio as Head Coach of Women’s Flag Football

Paxton, Mass. — Anna Maria College has announced the hiring of Bridget D'Amelio as the inaugural Head Coach of its Women's Flag Football program. The team, which was officially announced in late November, will begin intercollegiate competition during the 2026–27 academic year.

D'Amelio brings extensive experience and a deep passion for the growth of women's flag football to Anna Maria College. She currently serves as the Head Coach of Girls Flag Football at Wachusett Regional High School, where she helped establish the program and guided it to rapid success, including a 14–2 season, a second-place conference finish, and a top-four state ranking. Her teams have also competed on prominent stages, including a halftime showcase at Gillette Stadium.

"I am honored to be named as the head coach of Anna Maria College Women's Flag Football," said D'Amelio. "Football has always been my favorite sport. I wish I could've played when I was growing up. Now that women's flag football has emerged, it has become my passion to bring this sport to girls and women now and in the future. I am so grateful to provide young women with the opportunity to showcase their power and athleticism in a sport that we share a mutual love for."

In addition to her high school coaching success, D'Amelio has coached at the youth and summer league levels and has been actively involved with New England Patriots Girls Flag Football initiatives, including jamborees and college showcases. She is widely recognized for her commitment to player development, program building, and advocacy for the continued expansion of girls' and women's flag football in Massachusetts and beyond.

"We are thrilled to see Bridget D'Amelio take on the role of Head Coach for Women's Flag Football at Anna Maria College," said Dani Callahan, Community Relations Manager for Kraft Sports at the New England Patriots. "Bridget's passion for the game, her leadership, and her commitment to empowering young women through sports have been evident from day one. This is an incredible step forward for the program, and we know she will inspire her athletes to achieve greatness both on and off the field."

At Anna Maria College, D'Amelio will make history as the first female coach out of New England to lead a women's flag football program at a four-year college. The team is set to begin competition in 2026–27, representing an exciting and significant addition to the AMC athletics landscape.
