WORCESTER MA- On Friday, November 14th the Anna Maria College women's ice hockey team traveled to Worcester State to take on the Lancers of Worcester State University for their first MASCAC conference game of the season. The AMCATS lost the game 6-1.
The Lancers would start things off early scoring the first goal of the game about 10 minutes into the first period. Unable to generate any offense, the AMCATS would find themselves still trailing as the game entered second period action.
Things would not improve for the AMCATS however as the Lancers would go on to score three consecutive goals against the AMCATS in the second period, with the AMCATS now trailing the Lancers 4-0 Looking for a momentum switch, the AMCATS would draw a penalty and go to the powerplay, it would be Ceili Nolan to set up Alexandra Peterson who would bury the puck to get the AMCATS on the board, now trailing to the Lancers 4-1 in the second period.
It would be all Lancers in the third period scoring two more goals to make it a 6-1 lead over the AMCATS. It would be the Lancers goalie to keep the AMCATS off the board the rest of the game, with the AMCATS falling to the Lancers 6-1. The AMCATS would have Megan Tegethoff and Stevie Levesque split time in net tonight against the Lancers for a combined 15 saves. Alexandra Peterson would get her second goal of the season for the AMCATS against the Lancers. Ceili Nolan would tally her first point of the season for the AMCATS against the Lancers.
