Women’s Ice Hockey Secures 2–1 Win Over Pilgrims

HENNIKER, NH- On Saturday, December 6^th, 2025, the Anna Maria College women's ice hockey team traveled to Henniker, NH to take on the Pilgrims of New England College. The AMCATS won the game 2-1.

The AMCATS struck early in the first period, grabbing momentum just four minutes in. Bella Delordo set up Quinn Bennett, who buried the puck to give the AMCATS a 1–0 lead over the Pilgrims. The remainder of the period saw strong back-and-forth action from both sides, but the Pilgrims managed to score in the final minute, sending the teams to the locker room tied 1–1.

In the second period, the AMCATS came out energized and would capitalize a on a power-play opportunity. At 10:27 in the second, a crisp passing sequence from Aliana Gibson to Ceili Nolan to set up Lauren Sundgren, who finished the play and put the puck into the back of th net to put the AMCATS back on top, 2–1. From that point on, the AMCATS defense locked in and the AMCATS goalie Alyse Mutti would play strong in net from the AMCATS as she would shut down any chance for the Pilgrims to establish pressure, giving the Pilgrims no room to build momentum in the game. 

The third period featured no scoring, but pressure would continue from the Pilgrims as they pushed hard for the equalizer. The AMCATS' goalie stood tall throughout the final frame, shutting the door on every attempt that would be combined with the team's disciplined defensive play, proved to be the difference in the game against the Pilgrims. A complete team effort—and a standout performance from the AMCATS goalie—secured the 2–1 victory over the Pilgrims.

 BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

• Alyse Mutti would earn her first NCAA win against the Pilgrims stopping a total of 30 shots. 
• Lauren Sundgren would get her second powerplay goal and game winning goal of the season against the Pilgrims.
• Quinn Bennett would get her second goal of the season against the Pilgrims. 

COMING UP:

The AMCATS will be back in action when they return back from break on Friday January 2, 2025 where they will travel to Vermont to take on the Spartans of Vermont State Castleton. Puck drop is set for 4:00pm.
