Women’s Ice Hockey Gets Payback on Worcester State

WORCESTER, Mass. - After a 1-0 loss to Worcester State University the previous day, Anna Maria College defeated the Lancers 4-1 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's ice hockey game on Saturday evening at Buffone Skating Arena.

With the win, the AMCATS improve their overall record to 6-15-2 and their conference record to 4-7-2.

After over 18 scoreless minutes, Aliana Gibson broke the deadlock, scoring with less than two minutes remaining in the first period to put the AMCATS on top 1-0 heading into the second. She was assisted on the goal by August Otto.

The AMCATS struck again late in the second period when Isabella Delordo scored off passes from Quinn Bennett and Jada Kosowan to give Anna Maria a 2-0 advantage entering the final frame.

The Lancers pulled their goalie with more than six minutes remaining, giving Anna Maria the opportunity for two empty-net goals. The first came from Camryn Beauvis off a pass from goaltender Meaghan Tegethoff, and the second was Gibson's second goal of the game, assisted by Alexandra Peterson.
