Women’s Ice Hockey Falls to Worcester State at DCU Center

WORCESTER, Mass. - Anna Maria College was defeated 1-0 by Worcester State University in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's ice hockey game on Friday afternoon at the DCU Center.

With the loss, the AMCATS fall to an overall record of 5-15-2 and a conference record of 3-7-2.

The AMCATS and the Lancers took the ice at the DCU Center, home rink of the Worcester Railers. The ice was painted pink in honor of National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

The first and second periods ended without a score from either team, with Worcester holding a 27-17 shots advantage heading into the final period.

Worcester State finally broke the scoring drought, scoring on a power play halfway through the third period, giving the game its final score of 1-0.

Emma Brewer started in goal for the AMCATS, keeping the Lancers scoreless through two and a half periods and making 34 saves in the effort.

Anna Maria returns to action for a rematch against Worcester State in a home game on Saturday, February 14, beginning at 7:20 p.m.
