Women’s Ice Hockey Bounces Back With Victory Over Plymouth

WORCESTER, Mass. – Anna Maria College bounced back from a loss the previous day with a 3-1 victory over Plymouth State University in a non-conference collegiate women's ice hockey game on Saturday night at the Buffone Arena.

With the win, the AMCATS improve to 4-9-1 overall, while remaining 2-2-1 in conference play.

The opening period was scoreless as freshman goaltender Alyse Mutti turned aside all 17 shots she faced to keep Plymouth State off the scoreboard. The Panthers struck first midway through the second period to take a 1-0 lead, but Anna Maria responded late in the frame. Quinn Bennett tied the game at 1-1 with three minutes remaining, finishing a feed from Isabella Delordo.

The AMCATS took control early in the third period when Suri Roberts netted her second goal of the season off a pass from Mia Provenzo to give Anna Maria its first lead of the night. Alexandra Petersen sealed the victory with an empty-net goal in the closing minutes.

Mutti anchored the win with a strong performance in net, stopping 43 shots and making several key saves throughout the night, with the freshman goaltender allowing just one goal, helping the AMCATS protect their lead down the stretch.

Anna Maria returns to action on Friday, January 23rd, with a road matchup against Rivier scheduled for 7:40 p.m.
