Women’s Ice Hockey Taken Down by Rivier

WORCESTER, MA - Anna Maria College was defeated 4-1 by Rivier University in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's ice hockey game on Saturday evening at the Buffone Skating Arena.

With the result, the AMCATS fall to an overall record of 1-4-1 and a conference record of 1-2-1.

After a scoreless first period, the AMCATS fell behind due to a Rivier goal early in the second. Mia Provenzo got the AMCATS on the board nine minutes into the period, scoring the equalizer off a rebound from Camryn Beauvais' shot to even the score at 1-1.

From there, the Raiders tacked on another goal in the second period to retake the lead. The fourth quarter saw Rivier extend the advantage, scoring twice, including on an empty net, to put the game out of reach for the home team.

Freshman Emma Brewer played the entire game in net for the AMCATS, making 41 saves to keep the game competitive.

Anna Maria skates back into action on Tuesday, December 2nd, in a non-conference road game at Salve Regina, beginning at 8 p.m.
