Women’s Ice Hockey Falls to Falcons in OT

WORCESTER, MA - Anna Maria College was defeated 3-2 by Albertus Magnus College in a non-conference collegiate women's ice hockey game on Friday afternoon at the Buffone Skating Arena.

With the loss, the AMCATS open the season with a 0-2 overall record.

After letting up an early goal to go down 1-0, the home team bounced back quickly when Alexandra Petersen scored her first goal of the season with just under six minutes remaining in the first, closing out the period with a 1-1 draw. She was assisted on the play by Quinn Bennett, who picked up her first assist of the season.

Anna Maria took a 2-1 lead in the second period when Camryn Beauvais scored her first goal of the season, sending the AMCATS to the final period with a one-goal advantage.

The Falcons tied the score at 2-2 early in the third, a score that held through regulation, sending the game to overtime. In the overtime period, a penalty gave Albertus Magnus a numbers advantage that they utilized to score the game winner.

Megan Tegethoff played the entire game in goal for the AMCATS, making 28 saves through 60 minutes of action on a .903 save percentage.

Anna Maria opens Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference play next Friday, November 7th, with a road game at Worcester State University. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
