WOMEN’S HOCKEY Comes Up Short Against SUNY POTSDAM in Game Two of Bagley Invitational
RUTLAND VT- On Saturday January 3, 2026, the Anna Maria College women's ice hockey team would play the second game of the Bagley Invitational Tournament in Rutland Vermont, where they will take on the Bears of SUNY Potsdam. The AMCATS would lose to the Bears 3-1.
The AMCATS came out flying in the first period, jumping on the Bears early with a goal 9:09 into the game. Quinn Bennett opened the scoring off a setup from Tessa Henry to give the AMCATS a 1–0 lead. The Bears responded quickly, tying the game just 42 seconds later. Play went back and forth for the remainder of the period, but the Bears capitalized on their momentum, scoring once more before the buzzer to take a 2–1 lead into the second period.
Looking to even the score, the AMCATS came out strong in the second period. Both teams traded chances in a fast-paced frame, but it was the Bears who struck again, scoring with about two minutes remaining to extend their lead to 3–1 heading into the third.
Despite trailing by two entering the final period, the AMCATS pushed hard to build offensive momentum. Strong goaltending from Emma Brewer kept the Bears off the scoreboard in the third period, giving the AMCATS a chance to tie the game. The AMCATS generated some offensive scoring opportunities and would draw a penalty late in the third on the Bears. The AMCATS would capitalize and score on the power play with about two minutes remaining. Tessa Henry found the back of the net, assisted by Camryn Beauvais, cutting the deficit to 3–2.
With time winding down, the AMCATS continued to have strong offensive pressure and was , supported by strong defense and solid goaltending from Emma Brewer. Despite the late surge, the Bears held on to secure a 3–2 victory over the AMACTS.

The AMCATS will return to action on Friday January 9, 2026, where they will travel to Pawtucket Rhode Island to take on the Wildcats of Johnson and Wales University. Puck drop is set for 3:00pm.
