WORCESTER, Mass. - Anna Maria College was defeated 4-0 by Rivier University in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's ice hockey game on Friday evening at Buffone Arena.
With the loss, the AMCATS fall to an overall record of 4-12-1 and a conference mark of 2-5-1.
The Raiders jumped out to a fast start, scoring three goals in the opening period before adding another in the second to build a 4-0 lead they would carry through the final buzzer.
Despite the shutout, the AMCATS generated consistent offensive pressure, finishing with 35 shots on goal. Mia Provenzo, Alexandra Peterson, and Tessa Henry each recorded four shots to pace Anna Maria.
Emma Brewer got the start in net, making 12 saves in the first period. Megan Tegthoff took over to begin the second and stopped 24 shots over the remainder of the contest.
Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday, January 31, hosting Salem State University. Puck drop is set for 6:40 p.m.
