Women's Hockey Picks Up Senior Day Victory Over Rams

WORCESTER, MA. – The Anna Maria College women's ice hockey team celebrated Senior Day in style on Thursday evening, earning a 4-1 conference victory over Framingham State at home.

The AMCATS set the tone early and struck first at 12:01 of the opening period. Aliana Gibson found the back of the net off assists from Ceili Nolan and Lauren Sundgren to give Anna Maria a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

Anna Maria wasted little time extending its advantage in the second period. Just 1:38 in, the AMCATS capitalized on the power play as Sundgren netted her third goal of the season, finishing a play set up by Nolan and Quinn Bennett to make it 2-0.

Framingham State responded midway through the period to cut the deficit to 2-1, but Anna Maria's defense remained composed. Brewer and the AMCATS back line limited quality scoring chances and preserved the one-goal advantage through two periods of play.

In the third, Anna Maria pulled away for good. At 9:41, Alexandra Peterson tallied her sixth goal of the season off an assist from Camryn Beauvais to push the lead to 3-1. Just under two minutes later, Alexandria Mupo sealed the Senior Day victory at 11:35, restoring the three-goal cushion and putting the game out of reach.

Brewer was outstanding between the pipes, stopping 29 of 30 shots faced to earn the win.

With the victory, Anna Maria improves to 8-15-2 overall and 3-7-2 in conference play.
