Women’s Basketball Completes Season Sweep of MCLA

PAXTON, Mass. - Anna Maria College defeated Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts for the second time this season, earning an 80-33 victory in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game on Monday evening at the Fuller Activity Center.

With the win, the AMCATS improve to 8-12 overall and 4-6 in MASCAC play.

Anna Maria controlled the contest from the opening tip, knocking down five three-pointers in the first quarter and taking a 37-12 lead into halftime. Tiffany Salazar and Taylar Hodge paced the AMCATS in the first half with eight points apiece.

The AMCATS continued to apply pressure in the second half, scoring 29 points in the fourth quarter with eight different players finding the scoresheet in the period.

Eleven different AMCATS scored in the contest, led by Arianna Gonzalez and Salazar with 15 points each. Gonzalez added six steals, four rebounds, and four assists, while Salazar contributed seven assists and five steals.

Hodge finished with 12 points on 5-for-7 shooting off the bench, while Meaghan Doyle added nine points and five rebounds. Sarah O'Connor recorded a team-high 10 rebounds, along with four steals and one block.

Anna Maria returns to action on Wednesday, February 11, hosting MASCAC foe Westfield State with tip-off scheduled for 5 p.m.
