NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Anna Maria College earned a 72-28 victory over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game on Wednesday evening.
With the win, the AMCATS improve to 7-11 overall and 3-5 in MASCAC play.
Anna Maria took control early, outscoring MCLA 16-6 in the opening quarter. The AMCATS continued to extend the lead in the second quarter, holding the Trailblazers to five points and taking a 32-11 advantage into halftime.
The AMCATS maintained momentum in the third quarter, outscoring MCLA 20-10 to push the lead to 52-21 heading into the final period. Anna Maria closed the game with a 20-7 fourth quarter to secure the 44-point win, their largest margin of victory of the season.
Arianna Gonzalez led Anna Maria with 18 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, and seven steals. Bri Franklin added nine points and eight rebounds, while Tiffany Salazar finished with seven points and four assists. Taylor Hodge scored 12 points off the bench, and the AMCATS received contributions from 11 different players.
Anna Maria finished the game with a 67-39 advantage on the boards and forced 29 turnovers while committing 15.
Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday, February 7, with a road MASCAC matchup at Bridgewater State beginning at noon.
