FITCHBURG, Mass. - Anna Maria College defeated Fitchburg State University 68-51 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game on Saturday afternoon at Parkinson Gymnasium.
With the win, the AMCATS improve to 9-13 overall and 5-7 in conference play.
Anna Maria set the tone from the opening tipoff, outscoring Fitchburg in all four quarters. The AMCATS pulled away in the fourth, outscoring the Falcons 25-14 to seal the victory. Meaghan Doyle and Arianna Gonzalez combined for 15 points and three three-pointers in the final frame, putting the game out of reach.
Four AMCATS scored in double figures, led by Doyle with 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds to record a double-double. Doyle also added four steals and three assists. Gonzalez finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Sarah O'Connor totaled 12 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals, while Hannah Baxter chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds off the bench.
Anna Maria returns to action on Wednesday, February 18, hosting Worcester State University at 5 p.m.
