Women’s Basketball Outpaced by Owls

PAXTON, Mass. - Anna Maria College was defeated 74-57 by Westfield State University in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game on Wednesday evening at the Fuller Activities Center.

With the loss, the AMCATS fall to 8-13 overall and 4-7 in conference play.

Westfield set the tone early with full-court pressure, forcing turnovers and converting in transition. The AMCATS stayed within striking distance in the first half behind six three-pointers, including three from Arianna Gonzalez, who scored 12 of her points before the break.

The Owls maintained their intensity in the second half, limiting Anna Maria to 21 points to pull away and secure the conference victory.

Gonzalez recorded a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds, while adding four assists and three blocks. Meghan Doyle contributed 12 points on four three-pointers and grabbed eight rebounds. Sarah O'Connor added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday, February 14, with a 5 p.m. road matchup at Framingham State University.
