PAXTON, Mass. - Anna Maria College was defeated 76-44 by Bridgewater State University in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game on Wednesday evening at the Fuller Activities Center.
With the result, the AMCATS' overall record falls to 4-8 and 0-2 in conference play.
Anna Maria pushed the pace out of the gate, going on a nine-point scoring run featuring a layup and a three-pointer from Tiffany Salazar, a jumper from Arianna Gonzalez, and a pair of free throws to establish an early 11-3 lead. The Bears battled back, tying the game at 17-17 after one quarter of play, then taking a 39-29 lead into the halftime break.
The second half continued the trend with Bridgewater extending its lead to take control of the game and put it out of reach for the AMCATS.
Salazar led her team with 11 points, grabbing six rebounds, while dishing out three assists and one steal. Bri Franklin went 3-for-9 from three-point range to add nine points, while O'Connor finished with seven points and five rebounds.
Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday, January 17th, for a road MASCAC game at Westfield State. Tip-off is set for noon.
