WORCESTER, MA - Anna Maria College was defeated 113-54 by Clark University in the women's basketball season opener, losing in the first round of the Worcester City Tournament to tip off the season with a 0-1 overall record.
The AMCATS put up 27 points in the first half, led by Meaghan Doyle with seven, Kimani Wilburn with six, and Arianna Saldini with five. Unfortunately for Anna Maria, Clark came out on fire, taking a 61-27 lead to the locker room.
Saldini finished with a team-high 10 points while grabbing six rebounds. Arianna Gonzalez and Doyle each had nine points while Hannah Baxter came off the bench to score eight points. Wilburn finished with seven points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Anna Maria looks to right the ship in the consolation game of the Worcester City Tournament this Saturday, November 8th, with a matchup against Worcester State University beginning at 3:30 p.m.
