PATCHOGUE, N.Y. - Anna Maria College was defeated 19-5 by St. Joseph's University - Long Island, in a non-conference men's lacrosse game on Wednesday evening at John A. Danzi Stadium.
With the loss, the AMCATS fall to an overall record of 1-9, remaining 0-1 in conference play.
After conceding the game's opening goal, Anna Maria responded with an unassisted goal from Kyle Pickering to even the score at 1-1. Following a St. Joseph's goal, Pickering struck again midway through the quarter, once again going unassisted to tie the game at 2-2.
The visitors closed the opening quarter on a run to take control, but the AMCATS found the back of the net again in the second quarter when Jacob Martin buried an unassisted goal at 5:17 to make it 8-3. Later in the quarter, Pickering completed his hat trick with a man-up goal at 2:19, cutting the deficit to 8-4.
In the fourth, Eric Farrell converted on a man-up opportunity off a pass from Miles Cormier at 4:44 for Anna Maria's final tally.
