Men’s Lacrosse Bested by Maine Maritime in Senior Day Shootout

PAXTON, Mass. - Anna Maria College was defeated by Maine Maritime Academy, 28-10, in a North Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse game on Sunday morning at Caparso Field.

With the loss, the AMCATS fall to 1-13 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Before the game, goalkeeper Nicholas Lopez was honored for his commitment and dedication to the men's lacrosse program. The four-year AMCAT played all 60 minutes in goal, making 22 saves throughout the contest.

Anna Maria got on the board midway through the opening quarter when Eric Farrell scored unassisted, and Nicholas Hussa added another late in the period off a feed from Aidan Maisen to make it 9-2 after one.

The AMCATS added two more in the second quarter, starting with a man-up goal from Miles Cormier off a pass from Farrell. Hussa followed later in the period with his second of the day, finishing a setup from Cormier.

Cormier opened Anna Maria's scoring in the third with an unassisted tally, giving the sophomore a three-point afternoon.

In the fourth, Farrell scored twice more, first on an unassisted effort and then on a goal set up by Cormier. Farrell returned the favor with an assist on Cormier's second man-up goal of the game. Brecken Veara also found the back of the net late for the AMCATS, his first career goal.

Farrell finished with three goals and one assist, while Cormier totaled three goals and two assists. Hussa added two goals, and Veara also scored for Anna Maria.

Anna Maria returns to action on Thursday, April 23, at SUNY Delhi in a contest beginning at 6 p.m.
