Men's Lacrosse Falls Short Against Pride In Season Opener

PAXTON, Mass. – The Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team opened its home slate on Wednesday afternoon at Caparso Field, hosting Regis College. The AMCATS battled throughout but ultimately fell to the Pride, 17–10.

Anna Maria set the tone early, taking a 1–0 lead after the opening quarter. Freshman goaltender Tyler Davidson was outstanding in net, turning aside 11 first-quarter shots to keep the Pride off the scoreboard.

Regis responded in the second quarter with four straight goals to take the lead. The AMCATS answered midway through the frame when Nicholas Hussa found the back of the net to cut the deficit to two. After Regis added a pair of quick goals late in the half, Anna Maria continued to battle offensively. Miles Cormier and Hussa combined for three goals in the quarter to keep the Amcats within striking distance, trailing 7–5 at the break.

The Pride added three goals in the third quarter, while Kyler Pickering tallied for Anna Maria to keep the momentum alive heading into the final period.

In the fourth, Regis extended its lead, but the AMCATS continued to compete until the final whistle. Eric Farrell scored midway through the quarter, and Anna Maria closed the contest with three
goals in the final two minutes. Cormier netted his fourth and fifth of the game, while Farrell added a late tally to cap it off.

Cormier led the Amcats with five goals, while Hussa added two goals. Farrell finished with two goals, and Pickering contributed a goal.
