Men's Hockey Knocks Off No. 15 Salve Regina, 1–0, Behind 46-Save Shutout
AUBURN, Mass. — The Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team turned in a statement performance on Saturday night, shutting out No. 15 Salve Regina University by a score of 1–0 at Horgan Ice Arena.
In a tightly contested battle, Anna Maria capitalized on a second-period power play to score the game's lone goal. Brandon Della Paolera found the back of the net at the 15:22 mark of the second period, finishing a setup from Pearce Baker and Owen Barrow to give the AMCATS a 1–0 advantage.
Salve Regina applied consistent offensive pressure throughout the game, but the AMCATS' defense and goaltending rose to the occasion. Junior goaltender Matt Hennessey delivered a standout performance, stopping all 46 shots faced to record the shutout, including several key saves during a push by the Seahawks in the third period.
Anna Maria stayed poised in the final minutes, effectively clearing rebounds and denying second chances as Salve Regina pressed for the equalizer. Timely penalty killing and disciplined defensive play allowed the AMCATS to preserve the lead and secure one of their most notable wins of the season.
The AMCATS will return to play on Sunday, January 18th where they will travel to Williamstown, MA to take on Williams College for a non-conference matchup. Opening puck drop is set for 3:00pm at Langsing Chapman Rink.
