Men's Ice Hockey Earns Ninth Straight Win over Worcester State

WORCESTER, Mass. - Anna Maria College men's ice hockey earned a 3-2 victory over Worcester State University on Wednesday evening at the Worcester Ice Center in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference action.

With the win, the AMCATS improve to 17-5-2 overall and 11-1-1 in conference play, while the Lancers move to 9-11-4 overall and 2-8-3 in league action.

Anna Maria struck first just 2:42 into the opening period, as Lucas de la Salle finished a feed from Max Pelletier to give the AMCATS a 1-0 lead after one.

The AMCATS extended the advantage in the second period. Owen Barrow netted an unassisted goal at the 15:53 mark to make it 2-0. Worcester State responded at 18:53, as Bryce Grandbois scored off an assist from Sean Tyrie to cut the deficit to 2-1. Anna Maria answered less than a minute later when Nolan Ring tallied an unassisted goal at 19:51, restoring a two-goal cushion heading into the third.

Worcester State pulled within one midway through the final frame on a power play goal by Cam Quigley at 12:20, assisted by Matthew Nuzziolo, but the AMCATS held off the late push to secure the 3-2 road victory.

Matthew Hennessey played the entire game in goal for the AMCATS, making 30 saves to pick up the win.

Anna Maria returns to action for the final game of the regular season on Saturday, February 21st, for a Senior Night matchup against Framingham State beginning at 6:40 p.m.
