Men’s Hockey Advances to Worcester Cup Championship with 2-1 win over Bison
WORCESTER, MA. – On Friday, October 31st the Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team took on the Bison of Nicolas College for the Worcester Cup semifinals. The AMCATS won the game 2-1.
After a scoreless first period, the Bison struck early in the second, capitalizing on a power play just thirty seconds in to take a 1–0 lead. The AMCATS responded at the 16-minute mark when Oliver Majesky sent the puck across to Nicholas Frederick, who set up Hayden Rynard for the equalizer tying the game at 1–1.The play would go back and forth with both teams exchanging opportunities in the offensive zone, but it would be both teams to remain strong on defense, in the second period and time would expire in the second, with both teams still notched at 1-1, to head int o the final period of play.
The AMCATS came out strong in the third period, determined to take control and secure the lead over the Nichols College Bison. The action went back and forth throughout the period, with both teams generating quality scoring opportunities. However, AMCATS goaltender Matthew Hennessey would remain strong in the back of the net turning aside multiple key chances and holding the Bison to just one goal on the night.
The AMCATS maintained consistent offensive pressure, and their persistence paid off midway through the third. With just over eight minutes remaining, Hayden Rynard set up Kenny Kalman, who delivered a precise pass to Nolan Ring for the AMCATS' second goal of the game giving them their first lead of the night.
Despite a late surge from the Bison, Hennessey and the AMCATS' defense shut the door, securing the 2–1 comeback victory. With the win, the AMCATS advance to the championship game on Sunday, where they will face the Lancers of Worcester State University.

- Hayden Rynard would get his first career goal as an AMCAT in the win over the Bison. Rynard would also have his first career two-point night as an AMCAT in the win over the Bison.
- Nolan Ring would get his first career goal as an AMCAT in the win over the Bison.
- Matthew Hennessey would make 51 saves in the net to help secure the win over the Bison.

The AMCATS will be back in action on Sunday, November 2nd where they will take on the Lancers of Worcester State for the Worcester Cup Championship. Opening face-off is set for 7:00pm at the Worcester Ice Center.
