Hennessey and McElhinny Earn MASCAC Weekly Awards
PAXTON, Mass. - Following Anna Maria College's first Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference championship, junior goaltender Matthew Hennessey and sophomore forward Dylan McElhinny earned MASCAC weekly honors for their performances in the title game.
Matthew Hennessey was named both MASCAC Championship MVP and Goalie of the Week after recording 48 saves with a perfect 1.000 save percentage to secure the shutout and the conference championship.
Dylan McElhinny earned Player of the Week honors after scoring the first, and eventual game-winning, goal for the AMCATS. McElhinny intercepted a pass from the Westfield State goaltender and scored on a virtually empty net to give Anna Maria a 1-0 lead and help send the program to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
Hennessey, McElhinny, and the rest of the Anna Maria men's ice hockey team travel to Menomonie, Wisconsin, to take on the University of Wisconsin-Stout in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Saturday, March 14.
