AUBURN, MA – Anna Maria College bounced back with a strong performance, defeating New England College 5-2 in a non-conference collegiate men's ice hockey game on Friday evening at Horgan Arena.
With the result, the AMCATS close out competition in 2025 with an overall record of 7-4, while remaining 4-1 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
Anna Maria took advantage of an early power play, taking a 1-0 lead seven minutes into the contest when Dylan McElhinny scored his second goal of the season. Brandon Della Paolera and Pearce Baker were credited with the assists on the play.
The AMCATS broke the game open in the second period, scoring four times to build a commanding lead. Owen Barrow netted back-to-back goals just 15 seconds apart, giving the home team a 3-0 advantage five minutes into the period. McElhinny and Della Paolera assisted on both goals.
Patrick Crooks added to the surge with his third goal of the season off a pass from Braeden McKinnon with three minutes remaining in the period, and McElhinny closed out the scoring in the frame with an unassisted goal a minute and a half later, sending the AMCATS into the final period ahead 5-0.
Despite allowing a pair of goals to the visitors in the final period, Anna Maria maintained control, finishing the game on top 5-2.
Matthew Hennessey played the full 60 minutes in net for the AMCATS, stopping 35 shots to earn his seventh win of the season.
