Men’s Ice Hockey Falls to Lancers in Woo Cup

WORCESTER, MA - Anna Maria College men's ice hockey was defeated 4-1 by Worcester State University in the Worcester Cup Tournament Championship on Sunday night at the Worcester Ice Center.

With the result, the AMCATS open the season with a 1-1 record, earning silver in the Worcester Cup Tournament.

Trailing by a pair of goals halfway through the second period, the AMCATS cut the deficit in half when Nick LeVasseur scored his first goal of the season, assisted on the play by Christopher Friberg and Tobias Omholt, to make the score 2-1 heading into the final period of play. The Lancers scored twice more in the third period, putting the game out of reach and taking home first place in the tournament.

Anna Maria took a total of 42 shots on goal, five more than Worcester State, with six different players registering four shots on target. Matthew Hennessey played the entire game in goal for the AMCATS, making 33 saves on a .892 save percentage.

Anna Maria returns to action on Friday, November 7th, for a road game against Salve Regina. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
