AUBURN, MA - Anna Maria College took down Westfield State University, defeating the Owls 7-3 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men's ice hockey game on Thursday evening at the Horgan Arena.

The win marks five straight for the AMCATS, improving their overall record to 6-2 while remaining undefeated in conference play at 4-0.

The AMCATS weren't done, tying up the score a minute later with an unassisted goal by Kenny Kalman, ending the period tied 2-2.

Anna Maria took a 3-2 lead halfway through the second when Liam Wells scored an impressive backhanded goal from right in front of the net, assisted on the play by Tobias Omholt and Braeden McKinnon with 10:28 left to play in the period. Patrick Crooks scored his first goal of the season to add a cushion to the AMCAT lead, assisted by Andrew LaHaie and Pearce Baker, ending the period with a 4-2 advantage.

The Owls tightened the game with a goal halfway through the final period, but Christopher Frieberg stepped up, scoring his first goal of the season less than three minutes later to give Anna Maria some breathing room. Brandon Della Paolera joined the growing list of goal scorers four minutes later, scoring off a pass from Omholt on a power play. Liam Murdoch capped off the dominant performance, scoring his first goal of the year to become the seventh unique goal scorer of the game, closing out scoring for the night.
