AUBURN, MA – Anna Maria picked up its second straight victory on Saturday night, taking down Salem State 5-2 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men's ice hockey game at the Horgan Skating Arena.
With the result, the AMCATS improve to 3-2 on the season.
The AMCATS struck first late in the opening period, when Nolan Ring buried his third goal of the season with 2:16 remaining to send Anna Maria into the first intermission up 1-0.
The lead doubled quickly in the second. Just 1:55 into the period, Owen Barrow punched in his first goal of the season to make it 2-0. Moments later, Adam Redding added his first of the year to push the advantage to 3-0. Ring picked up the assist, securing a two-point night.
Salem State got on the board to cut into the lead, but Anna Maria answered quickly. Braeden McKinnon scored his first of the season, set up by Pearce Baker, to extend the margin to 4-1. After the Vikings struck again to make it 4-2, Hayden Rynard responded immediately with an unassisted goal, giving the contest its final score of 5-2.
Goaltender Matthew Hennessey played the entire game in goal for the AMCATS, finishing with 37 saves on the night.
Anna Maria returns to action on Thursday, November 20th, when they travel to MCLA for a 6 p.m. puck drop.
