Men’s Ice Hockey Leaves Trailblazers in the Dust

AUBURN, Mass. - Anna Maria College defeated Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts 6-3 in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men's ice hockey game on Thursday evening at the Horgan Skating Arena.

The win makes it five straight for the AMCATS, improving their overall record to 13-5-2 and their conference mark to 7-1-1.

The AMCATS jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, with Owen Barrow opening the scoring in the 13th minute after finishing a feed from Brandon Della Paolera. Brady Harroun added the second goal with just under three minutes remaining in the period, scoring off a pass from Andrew LaHaie.

After MCLA cut the lead to 2-1 midway through the second period, the AMCATS regained a two-goal advantage when Braedon McKinnon scored on a power play, assisted by Pearce Baker and Liam Wells. MCLA answered with a goal in the final minute of the period, sending the game into the third with Anna Maria holding a 3-2 lead.

McKinnon wasted no time extending the AMCATS lead to two, scoring just 18 seconds into the final period for his second goal of the contest, with Baker earning the assist. MCLA responded quickly with a goal 20 seconds later, but Barrow answered to make it 5-3, netting his second goal of the game on an unassisted score. Patrick Crooks put the game away with an empty net goal in the final seconds, assisted by Nolan Ring.

Matthew Hennessey played the entire game in goal for the AMCATS, making 25 saves with a .893 save percentage, improving his individual record to 12-3-2.

Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday, February 7th, hosting Rivier Universityfor a 7:40 p.m. puck drop.
